Roundup of We the People State Competitions

State We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution competitions are taking place across the country in both virtual and in-person settings. We are excited to share a roundup of the recent competition results from December and January. Winners are presented alphabetically by state below. 

  • Arizona: Hamilton High School, led by teacher Brianna Willits
  • Colorado: East High School, led by teachers Matthew Fulford and Mandy Hostetter
  • Illinois: Maine South High School, led by teacher Andrew Trenkle
  • Indiana: Fishers High School, led by teacher Liz Paternoster
  • Michigan: East Grand Rapids High School, led by teacher Adam Horos
  • Nebraska: Lincoln East High School, led by teacher Kevin Rippe 
  • New Hampshire (pictured at left): Milford High School, led by teacher Thomas Lundstedt 
  • North Carolina: Raleigh Charter High School, led by teacher Shayne Klein 
  • South Carolina: River Bluff High School, led by teacher Linsy Dooley 
  • Washington: Tahoma High School, led by teacher Gretchen Wulfing
  • West Virginia: Clay County High School, led by teacher Phil Dobbins
  • Wisconsin: Wauwatosa West High School, led by teacher Chad Mateske 
Teams placing first in state competitions qualify for the We the People National Finals. Wildcard teams from several states also qualify to compete.
