Lesson 16: How did the Constitution create a federal system of government?

Lesson Purpose
The Constitution created a new system of government. We call it a federal system. In this lesson, you will learn what a federal system is and how it works. You will learn how power is delegated to the national and state governments. You also will learn which powers both governments share.
Lesson Objectives
When you have finished this lesson, you should be able to
- describe our federal system,
- explain some of the powers that are given to our national and state governments, and
- explain some of the limits on the powers of our national and state governments.
