Lesson 10: What did the Framers do about the problem of slavery?

Lesson Purpose
The Framers at the Philadelphia Convention faced another important issue. That issue was the question of slavery. Many colonists had depended on the labor of enslaved people for more than one hundred fifty years. The delegates from the Northern and Southern states could not agree about what to do. In this lesson, you will learn about the compromise the Framers reached on this issue.
