JMLP Summer Institutes Train Teachers in Civic Education

James Madison Legacy Project summer institutes are in full swing this summer, engaging teachers in civics-oriented professional development courses across the country. Our week-long workshops serve teachers from schools with high-needs populations by training them to implement the We the People curriculum, which encourages civic engagement and an informed citizenry. New We the People Middle School Textbook Available

An updated third edition of the We the People Level 2 textbook for middle school students is now available.The revised teacher's guide has just been released, featuring step-by-step suggestions for classroom implementation.

Civitas Bosnia and Herzegovina Holds Democracy Summer Camp

Nearly 400 students, teachers, trainers, and young artists gathered in Brcko, Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the Civitas five-day summer camp from June 28 to July 2. Civitas BiH, the Center's Civitas International Programs partner, organized the event, which included educational workshops, games and sports, and musical and artistic courses.

We the People Teacher Named 2017 Connecticut History Teacher of the Year

We the People teacher Katie Boland of Trumbull High School has been named the 2017 Connecticut History Teacher of the Year by the the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. Her We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution team placed thirteenth in the nation this year.
