Erin Lewis

Erin Lewis is a 1997 We the People alumna from Castle High School in Newburgh, IN, taught by the legendary and late WTP teacher Stan Harris. Her school’s team won the state competition and represented Indiana at the National Finals, finishing 4th. She is currently the executive director for the Center for Innovation & Change at the University of Evansville. Prior to joining the Center in 2015, she served as director of Outreach for former US Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor’s iCivics, directing its national educator and coordinator networks. She also served as a Research Assistant at the IU Public Policy Institute, Indiana’s Director of Civic Education and We the People State Coordinator (alongside her beloved WTP teacher) for six years, and is a former United States Marine, having completed Officer Candidate School in Quantico. She obtained her Masters of Public Affairs in Policy Analysis with Honors from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI. While there, she worked on the team of students and faculty that created the Center for Civic Literacy, and completed IU’s Oxford University program in England. In 2013, she was one of only three graduate students to receive the William M. Plater Civic Engagement Medallion for service to the community. She is also a proud UE alumna - having received her B.S. in Political Science and Psychology from the University of Evansville in 2001.
