The Pilot Model is used for new sites in order to ensure their viability as a program site. A pilot site is one that runs for half the academic year (generally in the spring semester) and uses only a portion of the program curriculum. Specifically teachers use We the People: Project Citizen and two concepts from Foundations of Democracy (usually Authority and Responsibility) Teachers attend four full days of training, and students are required to complete the mock congressional hearing and the public policy portfolio.
