Parents are encouraged to become actively involved in their student's experience with Project Citizen. Whether accompanying your child in surveying your community about local issues, or contacting the classroom teacher for a list of materials needed to complete the student portfolio, parent support plays an integral role in the success of the program.
Additional volunteer opportunity may exist at the congressional district and state level. Project Citizen portfolio and hearing showcases allow students to share their projects and present their work to members of the community, and volunteers are needed to assist with planning and on-site logistics. Parents may serve as timers or support staff for hearing showcases. For more information on becoming involved with your state program, please contact your state coordinator.
Parents can also donate to Project Citizen to further invest in their community's education programs.
