Event Date:
03/14/2018 to 03/14/2018

mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"">This workshop is intended for grade
5-12 teachers. Project Citizen is a program designed to help students and youth
groups learn how to monitor and influence public policy at state and local
government levels. The program involves critical thinking, problem solving and
cooperative learning. Students also learn how citizens can influence decisions
on important issues.  Project Citizen aligns well with a service-learning
or community service curriculum, as well as with citizen involvement issues in U.S. history
and civics. The workshop features lesson demonstrations and a chance for
participants to experience the program as their students would.  It also
includes advice and handouts on how to implement the program in classrooms and
youth groups. Participants will receive correlations with the Massachusetts frameworks in history/social
science, and language arts. This is a great curriculum for individual teachers
or a team approach.
